About How We Saw It
A storytelling platform built around shared experiences.
Everyone remembers things differently. Bring people together, share your memories, and discover the stories you never knew.
Why we made it
Why we made it
The founding team at How We Saw It has always been fascinated by stories, and by the wider view: how people can walk through the world on the same pavement and have completely different experiences. For one of our founders it started young, visiting great-aunties and great-grandparents with a poster pad, writing out timelines of their lives, and pinning their stories to them.
Travelling showed us another version of the same idea: alternative perspectives everywhere. Countless people in the same place, at the same moment, each living a completely different story. How they got there, why they were there, where they were going next, what was happening in their lives: all of it meant everyone experienced the very same conversation differently. And every one of those stories added a layer of colour to it.
You could say that when you only see a moment from your own side, you see it in black and white. When you start to consider everyone else's perspective, that moment explodes with colour.
That's why How We Saw It exists. It's a place to bring the people who were there together, and to hear what each of them saw: the night out, the trip, the wedding, the person you thought you knew.

What it is
A storytelling platform. One place for everyone's memories of the same experience, or the same person.
How it works
You start a collection and send one link. Everyone adds what they remember, typed or simply spoken, in their own words. Nobody you invite needs an account.
What it costs
Collecting and sharing memories is free. We may offer printed books and other keepsakes in the future, and they will always be optional.
